Lot 930
1787 Fugio Cent Newman 12-M Rarity-4. VG-7. Sharpness F12 but covered with microscopic roughness. No verdigris or contact marks. The date is strong and the legends are readable. Medium brown and chocolate with a couple small splashes of darker olive brown. A STATES UNITED type.

1787 Fugio Cent Newman 13-X Rarity-3. PCGS graded MS-63 Brown. Frosty chocolate and darker steel brown. No spots, stains, or contact marks. The only defects are some microscopic planchet striations at GIO to the rim above, as struck. The luster is a bit dull thanks to decades of natural oxidation, but the date, legends, and motifs are clear. Most likely from the Famous Bank of New York Hoard of mint state Fugio cents of various varieties that was dispersed over a period of about 100 years starting in 1856. A STATES UNITED type.

1787 Fugio Cent Newman 15-Y Rarity-3. PCGS graded EF-45. Glossy medium brown with chocolate toning in protected areas. The only defects on otherwise choice surfaces are a small planchet chip on the edge over the 7 in the date and tiny planchet flakes in the rings from K-11 clockwise to K-3, all as struck. The first 3 digits of the date are strong but the last one is weakly struck. A STATES UNITED variety with 8-pointed stars on the label. The upper star on the label is strong while the lower one is visible but weak.

1787 Fugio Cent New Haven Restrike in Copper Newman 104-FF. PCGS graded AU-58. Frosty light to medium brown with hints of underlying faded mint color on the reverse. Sharply struck on a defect-free planchet. No spots, stains, or contact marks. The slightest hint of friction on the highpoints from mint state.
